A little about Rachel:
Before joining the L. Perkins Agency, Rachel worked for a year as an agent apprentice to mentor Louise Fury. In addition to her industry training, Rachel has a business degree and also graduated summa cum laude with a BA in English from Texas A&M University-CC.
Rachel is actively building her client list and is excited about representing young adult and new adult fiction, as well as adult romance. She is also on the lookout for fun picture books.
She’s a fan of dual POVs, loves both print and ebooks, and has a soft spot for marketing savvy writers.

What do you like to do for fun?
Painting, whether on canvas or when furniture flipping (I’m looking at you, teal dressers!). Gaming with my husband and cat.
What genres are you drawn to most?
I’ve been drawn to young adult books for years, and my love for YA is still going strong. I’m also hooked on romance novels, from the erotic to sweet and everything in between.
Which is more crucial: emotional connection or current marketability?
For me personally, a project needs to have a balance of both. If I connect with a manuscript, but don’t think I can sell it in the current market, then I’d be doing a disservice to the author if I took it on, since I’m not the right agent for it. If I think I can sell a project, but I’m not connected, then how am I going to shout from the rooftops to editors about it? When a connection with a project meets knowing I’m the right agent to champion it, then I’ve found that crucial balance.
