We’re pleased to have Rebecca Phillips join us to share more about her contemporary novel FAKING PERFECT.
Rebecca, what book or books would most resonate with readers who love FAKING PERFECT–or visa versa?
I’ve been compared to Sarah Dessen a few times and I can’t even express how much that thrills me. I adore her. She’s the reason I started writing YA.
How long did you work on FAKING PERFECT?
The first draft took me about six months from start to finish. Revisions took several weeks.
How long or hard was your road to publication? How many books did you write before this one, and how many never got published?
FAKING PERFECT is my fourth book. My first three books (JUST YOU, SOMEONE ELSE, and OUT OF NOWHERE) are all self-published. I finished writing FAKING PERFECT in the spring of 2013, so it took exactly two years from first draft to release. It was a long, hard road but so worth it in the end.
ABOUT THE BOOK
Faking Perfect
by Rebecca Phillips
Paperback
Kensington
Released 6/30/2015
When Lexi Shaw seduced Oakfield High’s resident bad boy Tyler Flynn at the beginning of senior year, he seemed perfectly okay with her rules:
1. Avoid her at school.
2. Keep his mouth shut about what they do together.
3
. Never tease her about her friend (and unrequited crush) Ben.
Because with his integrity and values and golden boy looks, Ben can never find out about what she’s been doing behind closed doors with Tyler. Or that her mom’s too busy drinking and chasing losers to pay the bills. Or that Lexi’s dad hasn’t been a part of her life for the last thirteen years. But with Tyler suddenly breaking the rules, Ben asking her out, and her dad back in the picture, how long will she be able to go on faking perfect?
