Hi guys, it’s Martina, and I have some sad news and some good news.
Lisa Gail Green, who has been handling our agent and contest features for us for the past couple of years, is stepping aside for a while to focus on writing and her (trust me!) crazy life and health. She’ll still be mentoring the 1st5PagesWritingWorkshop.com, so she’s not leaving the family–just leaving AYAP for the moment. Lisa is an amazing, generous person and incredible talent, and this will nevertheless be a sad day for us! I hope you’ll join me in thanking her for all the time she has put in bringing us the agent and contest features and helping so many people move forward in their careers!
On the good news front, we have Sarah Glenn Marsh joining us to handle contests! Sarah is incredible–and talk about talent! Trust me when I say that you will be hearing LOTS about that in the coming months as she has several projects in the works that I can’t wait for the world to hear about. She also has a fantastic book coming out this fall. She’s unfailingly positive, generous, fun, and creative, so we’re beyond lucky to have her as part of the team.
That said, I’ll let her tell you a little bit more! Stay tuned! We’ve got a brand new contest coming up as well, and lots of fun changes!!
Hi everyone!
I’m so thrilled to be joining the team at Adventures in YA Publishing, the site I visited most often when I was a fledgling writer who’d just finished her first book! Adventures helped me in many ways, from exposing me to new YA titles through posts and giveaways, to offering writing advice from authors I admired. But even more special, Adventures hosted the contest that introduced me to the agent I would ultimately sign with in 2013! That’s a big part of why I’m so thrilled to announce that starting this year, I’ll be coordinating some exciting new contests for Adventures in YA Publishing! As a mentor in several other writing contests, and someone who entered many such contests while querying, I feel I have the knowledge and experience to offer contests that will appeal to emerging and established writers alike!
That being said, look for another post next Thursday announcing a fun new contest!
And for the curious, here’s a little more formal information about me:
“Sarah Glenn Marsh writes young adult novels and children’s picture books. An avid fantasy reader from the day her dad handed her a copy of The Hobbit and promised it would change her life, she’s been making up words and worlds ever since. When she’s not writing, she’s most often engaged in pursuits of the nerd variety, from video games to tabletop adventures and dungeon crawls. She lives in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and four rescued greyhounds. Her upcoming releases include FEAR THE DROWNING DEEP (Sky Pony, September ’16) and ANNA STRONG (Abrams Kids). Visit her online at: www.sarahglennmarsh.com.”
